Appeals Unit
Appeals Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Appeals Coordinator responds to appeals, regulatory inquiries, complaints, and grievances in timeframes established through regulatory or contractual requirements. Most inquiries require research on a variety of concerns and an accurate response, most of which are in writing.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- HS degree required; college degree or equivalent work experience preferred
- Must be able to demonstrate strong business writing skills; strong vocabulary and reading skills to evaluate the content of written inquiries
- Analytical skills to evaluate and determine the appropriate course of action; ability to properly access, utilize and interpret reference materials
- Manage time to complete assignments in required timeframes; work independently and resolve majority of issues without management input
- Ability to work in a team oriented environment; strong interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrate flexibility in an environment with frequently changing priorities
Broker & Small Group Support Services
Broker & Small Group Support Representative (Gilbert, MN)
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will be accountable for in-bound and out-bound sales and service calls to prospects and current brokers/clients; developing relationships, issuing proposals, negotiating sales, implementing new group business and retaining an existing book of business.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma plus one-year experience working in a structured call center environment or the ability to easily adapt to that environment required
- One year of industry-related experience, preferably in the dental insurance industry
- Possess or agree to obtain a valid Minnesota Health and Life Insurance License
- Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
- Computer experience preferred
- Ability to effectively plan, organize, manage time and make logical decisions
Gilbert Service Center
Customer Service Representative (Gilbert, MN)
POSITION SUMMARY:
Individual will respond to telephone inquiries from providers, subscribers and group administrators accessing the CRM and Oracle systems regarding dental claims. Will research customer inquiries when necessary, coordinate and communicate with other departments to resolve inquiries, and provide value-added service to all customers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate with at least 6 months of customer service experience, preferably in a call center setting
- Previous experience with claims processing helpful
- Computer experience working in Windows environment
- Ability to handle a high call volume
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, structured environment
- Exceptional communication skills
- Well-developed listening skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
Government Programs
Dental Care Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for assisting public program members (Medical Assistance, General Assistance Medical Care, MinnesotaCare and Minnesota Senior Health Options) in making dental appointments, and alleviate any barriers a member may have in getting to their appointment. The incumbent will also work closely with members to assure they know their dental benefits and patient responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School graduate; some post-secondary coursework preferred
- 2-4 years of provider or customer relations experience in a medical or dental health plan or similar setting
- Excellent communication and human relations skills to effectively deal with a diverse range of individuals; ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, clearly and concisely with professionals, dentists, office management and support staff
- Knowledge of dental terminology, coding and benefits, medical terminology is a plus
- Basic PC skills, including working knowledge and use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Basic understanding of claims processes and systems; strong organizational and file management skills; ability to prioritize to meet regulation guidelines; ability to maintain confidentiality

Treatment Plan Analyst
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for rendering clinical dental opinion as to the appropriateness of treatment proposed or rendered for existing dental conditions of subscribers for purposes of benefit plan determination under the terms of the contract.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current licensure as RDH or RDA by Minnesota Board of Dentistry required
- A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience required
- Broad knowledge of clinical dentistry and treatment alternatives
- Knowledge of CDT coding
- Ability to understand benefit plan descriptions, periodicals, reference materials and detailed correspondence
- Knowledge of employee benefits and dental managed care industries
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Professional Services
Provider Network Research Analyst
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for responding to data and GeoAccess needs of Professional Services and the corporation. This position provides support to divisional personnel by analyzing data and developing data solutions that may be used in the process of network development, network management, and utilization management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two year degree in a technical field
- Experience creating and manipulating relational databases and writing relatively advanced SQL statements
- Experience working with tools such as: Arpeggio Report Writer; Crystal Reports; Golden 32; GeoNetworks; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Access; Microsoft Word
- Ability to acquire an understanding of Professional Services data applications including dependencies and interrelationships with other systems and how corporate policies and procedures impact data systems
- Ability to write relatively advanced Excel formulae
- Must possess excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously, manage a project from beginning to end, and meet consistent deadlines
